Finland changes the standard VAT rate from 24% to 25.5%

The Finnish Parliament approved the change in the standard VAT rate from 1 September. 2024. The standard VAT rate will increase from 24% to 25.5% from 1 September 2024. All sales of goods or services subject to the standard rate must therefore be invoiced with the new VAT rate from September 1, 2024. As part of this change, there is no movement of commodities between reduced and standard VAT rate.

The change applies to all sales reported in the Finnish VAT return as well as sales reported in the OSS (One Stop Shop) regime.

Since the change occurs during the 3rd (OSS regime) quarter, both rates will be reported separately in the 3rd quarter OSS return, 24% for sales until 8/31/2024 and 25.5% for sales from 9/1/2024.

We assume that marketplaces like AMAZON, eBay, etc. will change the rate automatically, but we recommend checking. Sellers with their own e-shops must change the rate from 1.9. was 25.5%
